Stage 2 Water Conservation CHANGES August 23

Stage 2 Water Conservation

Over the past several weeks, the City received a lot of resident feedback on the water map designed for watering restrictions in Stage 2. Although the water map was made in the best interest of the water system, after the City considered the needs of the residents it took a different look at our water system, and made a change to the watering restrictions. The City realized the water map was in place for a very short period of time, but providing a timely response to resident concerns was necessary in this case. Last night the Plano City Council adopted a different approach to watering restrictions, while continuing to limit watering to 2 days per week. School Zone Sign

Plano Schools Begin Monday, August 22, 2011. Plano Police Officers will be heavily enforcing school zones, crosswalks and speed limits to assure a safe commute to school. Remember, the children walking to school in our neighborhood are our friends' children, our neighbors' children and our own children. Please drive safely througout the neighborhood.

The Plano Police Department offers the following reminders for safe motoring throughout the school year:

  • Drive 20mph in designated zones
  • Commute around areas of school traffic to get to work.
  • Never "wave" a child across the street from your vehicle
  • Don't drop your children out at random spots along the road to school.
  • Watch for clearly marked pedetrian crossings at locations where Crossing Guards are not on duty.
  • Use carpool lanes correctly and don't unload except at the school entrance.
  • Observe and obey the Cross Guard directions.

Summer Clean-Up

Summer Clean Up

The 100 degree plus temperature made our summer clean up a real challenge this year. Many weeds were removed and additional garden soil was added to the flower bed. The two bradford pear tress were also trimmed again to allow additional light into the corner for the newly planted irises. The tree trimming also removed some of the lower branches over the west sidewalk.

We hope everyone enjoys our beautiful neighborhood entrance.

Spring Clean-Up

Spring Clean Up

We completed our annual spring cleanup and flower planting on Thursday. We added additional garden soil to raise the flower bed this year. This will make our new blooms more visible from the street. The newly planted red begonias look very nice in front of the silver dust.

In addition, we re-installed the two low-volatage spot lights that illumiate our "Cross Creek West" sign. You may remember that we removed these lights last year prior to the city replacing the two brick walls on each side of our corner. We still have to replace a missing low-voltage light fixture on the south side of the corner later this week.

Thank you members for your voluntary membership dues and time. Your investment in our community helps our corner at Red River and Legacy continue to enhance the entrance to our neighborhood.

Really Late Winter Clean-Up

Winter Clean Up

We completed a very late annual winter cleanup on Saturday. The Silver Dust are still looking good. We were able to reuse these again this year for a backdrop of silvery white. With the leaves removed, the flower beds cleaned, the shrubs freshly trimmed, and the emerging blooms our entrance at Red River and Legacy looks great and is well prepared for our spring clean-up and spring planting later this month.
