If you've seen National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, you're familiar with Clark Griswold's over-the-top Christmas light display.
Plano resident Jim Beckham goes above and beyond Griswold, delighting neighbors and passersby with thousands of LED lights, dripping icicles, swirling spiral trees and a lip-synching Santa Claus, among other holiday favorites.

A deep freeze gripped almost the entire United States on Friday, including Cross Creek West - pushing temperatures to the mid 20s in Cross Creek West, emptying stores in Texas of firewood and threatening to knock out power across an ice-glazed swath of the South and Midwest.

Plano Schools Begin Monday, August 26, 2013. Plano Police Officers will be heavily enforcing school zones, crosswalks and speed limits to assure a safe commute to school. Remember, the
children walking to school in our neighborhood are our friends' children, our neighbors' children and our own children. Please drive safely throughout the neighborhood.
The Plano Police Department offers the following reminders for safe motoring throughout the school year:
- Drive 20mph in designated zones
- Commute around areas of school traffic to get to work.
- Never "wave" a child across the street from your vehicle
- Don't drop your children out at random spots along the road to school.
- Watch for clearly marked pedestrian crossings at locations where Crossing Guards are not on duty.
- Use carpool lanes correctly and don't unload except at the school entrance.
- Observe and obey the Cross Guard directions.

We finally identified the location and source of the water leak on the corner this week. After much digging and searching our repair man confirmed that tree roots were the cause of the pvc pipe breaking. He cut out the many tree roots nearby, replaced the cracked and broken pvc pipe, and replaced two valves. He also raised the two valves so that they would be more accessible. Since we are in the middle of the hot summer and our watering is restricted by current city water restrictions we will not be planting flowers at this time. We will apply the $100 saved by not planting flowers on the irrigation repairs.

We completed our annual winter cleanup on Saturday. The Silver Dust are still looking good. We were able to reuse these again for the fourth year in a row. They make a nice backdrop of silvery white. With the leaves removed and the flower beds cleaned our entrance at Red River and Legacy looks great and is well prepared for our spring clean-up and spring planting in April.

One of the iris' that we planted several years ago is blooming with radiant purple/blue colors. Take a moment to enjoy these as you wait at the traffic light or as you enter the neighborhood.
